Gold Country Vintage Base Ball - Rancho Murieta Bandits
Vintage Base Ball (two words back in that time), is played with the equipment and rules of the 1880's. The gloves look like gardening gloves, and the pace is a bit faster than the modern game. It's a sight to behold for the "cranks" (fans) as the old style uniforms add a great feel to the game.
The Rancho Murieta Bandits were founded in 2007 by John "Deuce" Dodson, Matt "Splint" Corsaut, and Blake "Calaboose" Carmichael. By the 2008 season, 12 Bandits from Rancho Murieta were on the squad! The Bandits are always looking for players to sub as needed, or just join us at the park for some good ol' fashioned ball playing. Contact Blake Carmichael at drblake4@yahoo.com for more information. Or, visit the league website for more detailed information on the team and the league www.gcvbb.com

Starting hurler Matt "Splint" Corsaut befuddled the Nine with a combination of trickery and heat. Relievers Scott "Leather" Oltmanns, Todd "Penny" Pennington, and John "Deuce Hog" Dodson sealed the deal.

Bandits Struck Down by Miners, Drop First Game of Season
Published June 8, 2009
As the temperatures fell, so did the Rancho Murieta Bandits (4-1). On a pleasant and breezy day, the Mother Lode Miners (3-2) continued their unbeaten streak versus the Rancho Murieta ballists. It was a highly anticipated match-up that did not fall short of entertainment. The Bandits attempted to claw back from an early deficit, but ran out of innings, losing 9-8.
The Miners took to the line first, and did not wait very long to get on the board. A lead off double, a misplayed windblown fly ball, and a passed ball strikeout loaded the bases. A grand slam by “Masher” Bonini put the Miners up 4-0 after only four batters. When the Bandits finally recorded consecutivve ground ball outs, the score was already 5-0.
Bandits Remain Hot, Bring Down Highlanders
Published June 1, 2009 .jpg)
The Bandits and Highlanders show their appreciation for their opponents, and the game.
The weather cooled down, but the Rancho Murieta Bandits (4-0) remained hot this past Sunday, as they beat the Sierra Highlanders (2-2). The contest was set to determine first place in the early going of the season, and it was the Bandits who came away with a 13-1 victory. However, the game was more tightly contested than the final scored shows.
RM Bandits Stay Hot, Remain Undefeated!
Posted May 31, 2009 by Blake CarmichaelThe Rancho Murieta Bandits continued their hot streak against the second place Sierra Highlanders. The RM squad came out on top 13-1 behind strong hurling from Craig "Shooter" Sheehy, solid defense behind him, and a few hot bats, including Rob "Rib-eye" Rinaldi and Terry "T-Bone" Conway.
A full update will be coming soon. A strong start to the season may have the local favorites vying for the California Cup in August...stay tuned!
Bandits Beat the Heat, Nine

Colby "Cheddar" Craig sends one deep versus the Nine.
It was a blistering hot day, but that did not keep the Rancho Murieta Bandit faithful from Stonehouse Park on Sunday. Cranks of all ages caught the Bandits (3-0) winning another game against the Ione Preston Nine (0-4). The victory helped the Bandits maintain their first place standing in the Gold Country Vintage Base Ball League in the early going of the 12-game season. But like the heat, the Preston Nine were relentless in their attempt to bag their first victory.

Bandits come out on top in Spring Training finale
Published March 30, 2009It was a (relatively) cold and (very) windy Sunday morning day at Stonehouse Field II. But that did not prevent the Bandits and Mother Lode Miners from entertaining a healthy group of cranks to a Vintage Base Ball Game. It was also the first time in three years that the Bandits have prevailed over a strong Miners team. The 5-1 score was fueled by strong hurling from the likes of "Shooter, Splint, Calaboose, Junk Yard Dog, and Penny." The Bandit strikers also put the pressure on a solid Miner Defense, with "T-Bone, Calaboose, Leather, and Reaper" leading the charge by knocking in base runners.
