A message and request from my sister in law. (Breast Cancer)
This email came a couple of days ago from my very special sister in law. I so admire her and her efforts to support an organization that sometimes gets it wrong, but have gotten many thing right in supporting the fight against breast cancer.
If you feel the way I did when I read her message, please log in and offer to support her efforts if you can. Thank you, Debra Lind.

Dear Family and Friends:This October 5-7, I am participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day 60 mile walk in Philadelphia, PA. As is turns out, every 74 seconds, someone in the world dies from breast cancer. That is why I am walking and fundraising for the 3-Day, to demonstrate my determination to help raise awareness and the funds to find a cure.
As you may know, I participated in the San Diego event several years back. At that time, I was walking solo, with thousands of strangers, but no one I knew. The experience was amazing nonetheless. I walked uncomfortably with a minor knee injury which didn't feel so minor after the first 20 miles. However, what inspired me to continue were the amazing people I walked next to. I came across men who had lost their wives, daughters who had lost their mother or
grandmother. Mothers who had lost their daughters. Many people walking who were in much worse physical shape than I, walking for the people they loved. It was overwhelming with emotion to say the least!
This year, I am so excited to be on Team "TWIN PEAKS" (nice touch, huh!) and walking with my sister, Netty, my cousin Frances from Texas and cousins Nicole and Emily (mother/daughter duo) from Philadelphia.
Most of you know why this this movement is so important to me personally...My mom, Marie, is a 35 year breast cancer SURVIVOR!! Her journey and battle with this potential killer has inspired me to take my health seriously, having annual check ups and mammograms. So far, so good! Chances are, you know someone who has suffered with breast cancer. Whether it was a family member, friend, neighbor or co-worker, it has affected most of us in one way or another.
I'm walking for my mom, my sister, my daughters, all my family
members, my friends, and even my future granddaughters! Anyone I know and love who is potentially at risk.. Don't forget, women are not the only victims of this disease.
To participate in this event, I need to raise a minimum of $2300. Paul and I have started off my fundraising with a donation. I am humbly asking for your financial support as well. There is no amount too small (or great!). ANYTHING and EVERYTHING helps and will be greatly appreciated. This link http://www.the3day.org/ will allow you to make your donations on line. There are many options, including spreading payments over time. If you would prefer to mail a check, you can send it directly to me, payable to: The 3 Day c/o 36286 Eagle Lane - Beaumont, CA 92223.
Please know that your donations are applied entirely to my participant fundraising. My travel expenses to and from Phladelphia are strictly my own. Thank you for your consideration and your generosity!!
With Much Gratitude,
Lisette Lind
