SCHOOLS
Elk Grove Unified School District
Rancho Murieta is served by the public schools in the Elk Grove Unified School District, which operates 45 schools for more than 52,500 students in southern Sacramento County. It's one of the largest and fastest-growing districts in the state.
The district has some of the highest graduation standards in the state, standards that have been raised three times in the past decade. Several years ago the district adopted standards and benchmarks, which spell out skills students are expected to learn at every grade level, in every subject.
API scores reflect a school’s statewide ranking. Schools are scored from 10 to 1. Cosumnes River Elementary is among the highest ranking schools in California with a score of 10.
The district encourages parents to be educational partners at every level, from their local school to a superintendent's advisory panel.
Schools serving Rancho Murieta:
- About 300 children from Rancho Murieta attend Cosumnes River Elementary School, at 13580 Jackson Road. The school, built in 1948 and reconstructed in 1989, serves kindergarten through sixth grade and has a total enrollment of 395.
- Katherine Albiani Middle School, 9140 Bradshaw Road, serves seventh and eighth graders. It was built in 2005.
- Pleasant Grove High School, 9531 Bond Road, serves ninth through 12th graders. It was built in 2005.

POPULATION STATISTICS
The 2000 census put Rancho Murieta's population at 4,193, up 79 percent from the 1990 census. The figures found one-fifth of Murietans are under 19 years old.
Current demography from the 2000 US Census Bureau shows the following population breakdown for the community:
