COSUMNES --
BRIDGED
| [December
4] The last section
of the pedestrian bridge was set in place Monday
morning under
cold blue skies over a Cosumnes River so smooth it
provided a mirror image. The 100-foot north section
weighed 48,500 pounds but looked weightless as it was
glided into position by crane and secured by a small
crew of workers. The bridge will be completed by the
end of the month and is expected to open for bicycle,
pedestrian and golf cart traffic in January after trail
improvements and security measures are in place. |
