MAGIC
IN THE MUSIC

(September
7)
A-capella singers The Edlos lit up Lake Clementia Amphitheater's
first after-sunset show Saturday night. The group performed
a range of music, from original songs to popular hits from
the '40s, '50s, '60s and '70s. About 400 attended the event,
one of the offerings staged by the Etc arts group. The
show didn't begin until after dark, which gave
the evening a true show-business atmosphere. The crowd --
possibly the Amphitheater's largest -- seemed to respond
and gave the group the loudest cheers heard so far by the
lake. The group concluded the evening with the Amphitheater's
first encore.

The Edlos performed a delightful range of music, from the
Mills Brothers ("Till Then") to the Beatles ("Come
Together" and "Something") to the Beach Boys
("In My Room") to Led Zeppelin ("Stairway
to Heaven") and more -- all of it with only their voices
providing melody and beat.

Before the show there was a private reception for members
of the Etc arts group, which is producing a half-dozen shows
in its first season. Members got to chat, sip wine, nibble
on hors d'oeuvres, and listen to music from the High-Strung
Bluegrass Boys. They're, from left, Ray Delgado, Dan Patterson,
Murieta resident Wilbur Haines and Jim Lyon. There's info
about the Etc group and its entertainment series here.
