GATE
CRASHER

[Updated
Aug. 19] A
too-tall delivery truck hit the massive overhead arch
spanning the South Gate after getting into a resident's
lane instead of the vistor's lane about 5 p.m. Friday.
The impact of the semi knocked two support columns off
their bases and cracked the bases of the remaining two
columns. Security Chief Greg Remson said repairs will
involve "a total rebuild" of the overhang and supports.
Community Services District employees Floyd McLaughlin
and Jason Dill worked with resident Mike Liguori of Liguori
Construction to shore up the structure with material
provided by the Rancho Murieta Association Maintenance
Department. By 9 p.m., one resident lane was reopened,
and by Saturday, below, this scene greeted motorists.
