A NEW SEASON

[April 15] Carter Persily, 7, enjoyed his first hot dog of the new baseball season Sunday at Cosumnes River Little League Opening Day. The festivities at Stonehouse Park were delayed a day because of rain, but that didn't dampen the enthusiam of the hundreds of kids in spanking new uniforms who took the field for opening ceremonies. Boy Scouts from Troop 633 presented the flag and led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance, Katriona Lucas sang "The Star-Spangled Banner," and Joe Mazzoni Sr. tossed out the first ball. Afterwards, everybody headed for the barbecue put on by the Kiwanis Club and prepared to play ball.
