More people,
more rides, more activities -- there’s
no doubt that Summerfest has grown every year since a group of
residents started the event as a fundraiser in 2000.
This
year’s event kicked off on Friday night at Stonehouse
Park when more than a thousand turned out for the carnival rides,
midway, bounce houses, Texas Hold ’em poker tournament, live
music and dancing.

Saturday
turned up the heat with 3-on-3 basketball, the classic
car show, the chili cook-off, more live music, enormous
water slides, and nonstop activity. An outdoor
movie capped the evening and marked the end of another
summer in Rancho Murieta.
Highlights
of the day included the youngest winner of the chili cook-off.
Six-year-old Bailey Quinlan took first place in a blind
tasting by the eight contest judges, besting 10 competitors,
the largest cook-off field in Summerfest history. |
On Monday, Security Chief Greg Remson said two fights occurred
as the event drew to a close Saturday night. Two adult males
who attended the event as guests of residents were arrested.
