Well, it seems that it is a tale of two seasons for the boys of summer from Rancho Murieta. The quick starting Bandits were off to a 4-0 start at the start of the season, but slid back to 5-5 over the past two weeks.

On Aug. 9th, a short handed Bandit squad fell victim to a number of solid defensive plays from the Sierra Highlanders, and the Bandit bats fell silent in an 8-3 loss to the front runner Highlanders. On Sunday the 16th, the Bandits stormed out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first against the Cal-Cup Champion Amador County Crushers. With strong hitting, the lead was extended to 11-5 by the 5th inning. Some great defensive plays were displayed across the field as well, but in key moments of the game, balls were muffed by the Bandits, and the Crushers chipped away to force an extra frame. The Crushers came out on top with  a solid base knock to score a runner from 2nd. It was the third game in the past four versus the Crushers that was only decided by one run!

Despite the tough losses, the Bandits have their sites set on a winning season for the first time in club history, and will give it a go on August 23rd at 1:30PM at Amador High School. The game is against the 5th place Preston Nine, though the Nine recently stole their first club win against the Amador Crushers. It promises to be a game of intrigue as the Bandits take on some of their former club mates from 3 seasons ago.

Thanks to the growing numbers of "cranks" that are attending games on the road. It is truly appreciated, and the games never fail to entertain. Come on out to support the home team on the road, and mix it up with other cranks!
