"Oh! but for a chance to improve your golf score." Those playing in the Partner's Eclectic, for the past two Tuesdays, ending July17, did just that. The Tuesday, two-week tournament, gave a chance for the twosome to improve their net score. When pairing took place the handicaps had to be within eigh strokes of each other. Cool weather brought cool scores playing on the North Course:
Flight 1
First Place: Penelope Kahr, Bev Carr-Barrow (59)
Second Place: Miok Kim, Jung Kim (59)
Third Place: Pat Greenhaw, E. Jane White (60).
Flight 2
First Place: Paulette Satterley, Carmen Heimbecker (60)
Second Place: Ruth Dragash, Marilyn Ramsey (60)
Third Place: Sally Davis, Masako Matano (60)
Flight 3
First Place: Shirley Anderson, Bev Brown (57)
Second Place: Claudia Faeth, Melinda Frost (58)
Third Place: Nan Parquette, Ginny Hoskins (59)
The question is, "why does KP define closest to the pin?" This term has been applied without contest to define a players shot landing closest to the pin after hitting a tee shot. No one seems to know where, the defined as an acronym, came from. It certainly is a reason for exultation and there is hope
to record a bird.
Winners of "KP" during play on 7/17 was Kimiko Pumilia, Pat Valdez and E.Jane White on hole #12. Soon Lee and Joyce Koe were closest on #6. The prior week, 7/10, the honors were shared by Shirley Anderson, Bev Carr-Barrow, Miok Kim, Betty Warner, Doris Hanson and Sally Davis. Congratulation to all of the winners!
However, still haunting, there is no "K" in the definition of a tee shot landing on the green. Does keep putting apply? Possibly. After the exultation of such a fete, "Keep Putting" is the result. Therefore, it is the hope that each RMWGC member gets to "keep putting, a minimal number of times.
NCGA Net Amateur Qualifying took place Saturday July 21st. Members Angie Friedrich (60), E. Jane White (72) and Cheryl Berg (81) participated. Angie had five birdies and finished along with. Jane in the money. Congratulations, ladies!
