A day for junior golfers

The First Annual Junior Putting Event, hosted by the RMWGC and chaired by member Cheryl Berg, was held on Sunday, Aug. 5.  Thirty-three junior golfers participated.

The theme of movie characters was carried out on 9 holes of the putting green.  Donated Leatherbys ice cream, Jelly Belly candy, Mother's Cookies and Coca Cola drinks were awarded each golfer after 18 holes were played.

There was a chance to better the final  score by returning to the 9 holes and posting the lower of the two scores.  Several juniors had a hole-in-one and everyone improved their total score the second time around.  Most impressive was the junior's golf skills, their etiquette and overall conduct.

A big Thank You! goes out to Head Pro Greg Corsaut and the pro shop staff, for their assistance in helping to make this a successful event.

Noteworthy is Nicole Cruz's win in the First Tee of Sacramento 2-day tournament.  She took 1st Place in her age (13) bracket.  Beah Cruz qualified, in her age (7) bracket, for the National US Kids tournament to be played at Pinehurst, North Carolina.  Both Nicole and Beah are excellent representation to the potential of our young golfers at Rancho Murieta.  RMCC Pro Shop hosts the junior golf program.   It is great to see so many juniors on the course.
