The last match for River Valley League team play was with the Yolo Fliers Club in Woodland on August 17th. After lunch was served the year’s winners were announced. RMWGC’s “A” team won Gross Division for the first time. The team also took home honors for 2nd Place in the Net Division, winning by 1/2 point. The “B” team did themselves proud by winning 2nd in Gross Division. Way to go, gals!
The Foothill League year’s play ended at RMCC. There are 4 clubs in the league, Serrano, Cameron Park, Granite Bay and RMWGC. Pat Greenhaw said, “we played our first match on a cloudy, windy and cold day in April at Cameron Park. That didn’t stop Granite Bay, who came out playing hot! They came in first that day and never looked back.” The “Sassy Lady” trophy is theirs for this year. RMWGC took 3rd place and plans to take home “Sassy Lady” next year. Congratulations to all the team members playing in both leagues. Your fellow members are proud of you.
The Championship starts on Tuesday, Sept. 4th. Rounds will be played on Thursday the 6th and final round is Tuesday the 11th. The overall winner will be announced at the General Meeting on the 11th.
As I note September 11th as a day of busy activity for our club, I stop to ask everyone to display our country's flag in memory of the ones we lost on that day 6 years ago.
