The Rancho Murieta Niners hosted their final guest day of the year on October 4 – a beautiful, crisp fall day.

After a hearty breakfast, players headed to the South Course for an 18-hole tournament. The format was a scotch twosome (alternate shots for each player) in two flights, the Pumpkin Flight and the Scarecrow Flight.

The results:

Pumpkin Flight: 1st place – Carol Fraser, Linda Weatherholt, Gail Lewandowski, and Vicki Reynolds, with a score of 134; 2nd – Jane Miller, Dee Dee Grant, Carole O’Brien, and Judi Phillips, 142; 3rd – Annalee Somers, Michelle Basurta, Brenda Mann, and Rose Obayashi, 148; and 4th – Mary Roebbelen, Kim Roebbelen, Barbara Saevke, and Flo Harrelson, 148.

Scarecrow Flight: 1st place – Joni Sullwold, Barbara Kahl, Aleen Reeve, Sandi Yeast, 140; 2nd – Sally Paravantes, Elle Kimbrough, Tharon Naffziger, and Mary O’Neil, 143; 3rd – Jane Martin, Barbara Condon, Jackie Burton, and Kitty Wachtel, 146; and 4th – Barbara Keil, Joann Orovitz, Barbara Irelan, and Bolet Salvador, 148.

Closest to the pin - Guests: 1st place – Marlene Watkins, 7’ 1”; 2nd – Linda Weatherholt, 17’ 6”.

Closest to the pin – Members: 1st place – Helen Hathaway, 16’ 9”; 2nd – Judy Somers, 23’.

Lunch followed the tournament in the Murieta Room. A fall theme prevailed with beautiful table decorations of pumpkins, gourds, and leaves. Fall potpourri jars also decorated the tables and served as tee prizes for everyone to take home.
