Help ETC choose next summer's entertainment

ETC

Entertainment, Theatre and Culture wants Murietans to help ETC choose the kinds of entertainment and acts to bring to Lake Clementia next summer. There's a brief online survey.

The six-question survey asks whether you'd like to bring back some entertainers who've appeared at Clementia in the past, and it asks what kinds of entertainment in general you'd like to see.

My favorite ETC shows

What's your favorite ETC show?

When you've seen all 37 shows in ETC's six seasons, it's hard to pick favorites -- or even remember them all. But here is a personal top three:

Rain (2003) This first appearance by the Beatles tribute band introduced Beatlemania to Murieta about 40 years after the fact. No ETC event before or since has had as much buzz about tickets. The show -- and an encore in 2006 -- delivered a lot of musicianship and a time-machine trip to the '60s.

Steely Scam (2006) How can you lose when you have a virtuoso group of musicians playing Steely Dan music? The faces of Steely Dan's musicians aren't that well known, making this evening seem for all the world like a Steely Dan concert to many in the audience.

The John Skinner Dance Band (2003) Big band music and dancing beside the lake. Pure magic.

Honorable mentions The Edloes (2002, 2004), the Diamonds (2007), the Temptations Revue (2006), Marcia Cope-Hart and Friends (2003), Elton John tribute (2005).

If you're trying to remember favorite shows, you can see a rundown of every ETC performance since 2002 here.

Our Top Two

Our top two were Pablo Cruise and Craig Chaquico.

Bands

How about Dave Coz, I saw him perform in Sacramento, very good performer. Those jazz singers from KSSJ are really good. Also, any band that does the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Roy Obison, or Motown, ie like Four Tops.....you get the idea on where I am coming from....these cover the music venue from what I can tell reach most who attend, including me!! Not sure what group names in the area are good who imitate these performers. Also, you may get some ideas from performers who sing at Konocti Harbor and Spa from thier web site.

Good Luck and Thanks,

Marie

I too would be a huge fan of bringing in Dave Koz. He is one of the best you will ever see in concert. I am also in favor of Pablo Cruz and Craig Chaquico.

Dave Koz

John, thanks for the last name spelling, I thought about it after posting. Glad your are a fan too, and I just saw one show and was hooked!

I would love to see a band like Chicago out here.  I saw them at the Jackson Rancheria a few years back and they are incredible.  I also think it would be fun to have a comedy night under the stars.  Rain tops the list of the shows I have enjoyed the most, but Pablo Cruise clearly had the most fun coming out and performing.  Would be great to see them again.

Yes! A childrens show!

A quick comment on the survey...

What a great idea to bring a childrens show out here.  If its something that can get worked into the budget, my vote goes to a lady named Francie Dillon-- my two kids absolutely adore her.  She plays fun, get-up-and-dance kind of music that my kids love, and isnt a pain to listen to after the first 20 minutes (I think most parents can attest to the quality of some kids music... enough to make you want kick up a drinking habit.) (that was supposed to be a joke...) =)

Bravo, ETC, on putting on wonderful shows that really add an extra touch of charm to an already fantastic community.  Childrens concert or no childrens concert, you'll have our patronage for years to come.
