RMWGC members, Doris Hansen and Bev Brown, competed in the golf Huntsman World Senior Games at St. George, Utah during October. The games are for both women and men and are Flighted by age. Also participating was, Bob Hansen and Guy Brown, Jeff Hill and Dev Clark. Wives Nancy Hill and Marge Clark cheered on the group.
Jeff and Dev won gold medals. Doris’s silver medal will bring her back next year in a quest for the gold. Bev has participated in the games for 5 years. Her medal display is impressive. This year she added a bronze medal to the already existing 3 gold and 1 silver medals she has won in this event.
Many of the RMWGC members remember Iris McDonald, who has relocated to St. George. Iris won a gold medal. Her calendar is full and the telephone keeps ringing to fill any dates she has open. It was a highlight of the trip to spend time with their good friend, Iris.
CONGRATULATIONS to these victorious golf travelers.
“Who is that behind all that flying sand?” It must be a golfer who didn’t want to apply, or just didn’t know, golf rules of getting out of the bunker without having to be a human propeller. In a round of golf there is a very good chance at least one shot would land in the bunker. There is hope to cure the propeller syndrome.
Here are two rules governing bunker play that will help, rather than hinder, your game:
Relief: USGA Rules of Golf 2006-2007, Rule 24-2b (i)(ii), page 66 Unplayable: Rule 28 a,b,c, page 76
If you cannot look up a rule in question as you play, continue playing. Before posting ask the Club Pro for a ruling. Pick up a RMCC Local Rules Sheet in the pro shop to review. Rules of golf are an advantage to the player in many ways.
The last Guest Day was played on November 13th. It was a fantastic day for weather and golf.
Turkey shoot tournament is the 20th followed by two more days of club play before the Holiday Luncheon on December 11th. Be sure and sign up in the locker room.
