RMWGC End of Year Tournaments

The RMWGC year wound down with two unique tournaments being played.  On November 27, using the South course, the tournament of String It Out was played. The field was presented with a length of string that represented combined indexes, of the foursome, divided by 2.  The object was to cut off lengths of the string the distance that would help to score better on any hole until there was no string left.  Due to entangled technical difficulties the entire field was declared winners in the tournament.  This is no yarn and all of you that participated are $3 richer in Scrip.

Recognition for Closest ToThe Pin winners represent individual skill on hole #4. Cindy McCarver hit her tee shot 6’10 “ from the hole.  Claudia Foutz (37’4”) and Jahee Kim (41’6”) followed Cindy’s lead.  Hole #15 was also designated KP and Jahee Kim landed her shot 10’ from the pin.  Marilyn Ramsey stepped up to measure 14’4” from the hole, while Masako Matano landed her tee shot 14’9”, just waiting to be holed out.

On December 4, committed members of RMWGC braved the threatening elements and played in the Whack and Hack tournament on the North Course.  The format for Whack and Hack denoted each member play her own ball.  Two of the net scores are combined to make up the team score on each hole.  The two scores used are the combination of the lowest ball and highest ball of the hole. The field was sparse and each participant whacked and hacked their way into the winners circle and won $9 in Scrip.  Just goes to show that if you are committed, go for it, you will have a good chance to be a winner.

It was all business when Sandy Huddleston drove the ball on Hole #2 and landed 7’3” from the pin.  This was the KP hole and a big hit from Betty Warner brought her 8’2” from the pin ready to hole out for a bird.  Cheryl Stepps-Johnson signed in at 21’ 8”.  Using Hole #12 for another KP, Jan Marsac had no problem landing her shot 9’11” and Penelope Kahr landed hers 13’3” from the pin.
