District calls meeting on new school site
Elk Grove Unified School District announced Thursday it will build a new elementary school for Murieta's children, but it won’t be on Stonehouse Road. The new plan will be discussed at a community meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Rancho Murieta Country Club.
In making the announcement, school district spokeswoman Elizabeth Graswich said the district “is no longer pursuing the option of acquiring Mr. Frank’s property” and remains committed to building a new facility for Cosumnes River Elementary “as quickly as possible.”
Graswich declined to provide information about the location of the new site, saying it will be made public at the Jan. 22 meeting of the school board.
“The Board of Education will give direction on building the school … and then go back out to the community,” she said.
Cosumnes River Elementary School students will receive notices about the Jan. 24 community meeting Friday to take home to their parents.
