Niners name officers, present '07 awards

The new officers of the Rancho Murieta Niners Golf Club are in place and already busy on events and activities for 2008. The new officers are:

Captain: Pat Lytle
Co-Captain: Fran Hubbert
Secretary: Barbara Armstrong
Treasurer: Mary Beth Alameida

The Niners had their first general meeting of the year on January 10, followed by lunch in the Parasol Room. A few hearty golfers had braved the elements on our first official play day a week earlier, but no one played on the 10th. “Stay dry” was the order of the day.

A schedule of events for the year at Rancho Murieta and elsewhere is listed in the Niners 2008 Roster and on the Niners bulletin board in the ladies locker room. Check frequently and sign up so you can participate in these events.

Team Play Chair Lynette Flores encourages everyone to volunteer for team play and sign up when the sheet is posted. Any questions, call Lynette (354-4148).

The first “Open Day” is set for March 27 at Almaden Country Club. If you want to participate, sign up as soon as the list is posted because this event will fill up fast. The open days offer a great opportunity to experience another golf course, meet new friends, and enjoy a breakfast and lunch, followed by awards and raffle prizes.

Our final meeting and Christmas Party on December 13 capped off a great 2007. The Village Voices provided an excellent program of beautiful music and our country club staff and chef prepared and served a superb luncheon in a lovely setting.

The most improved golfers for the month of December were: First, Sue Girsch; second, Connie Enzensperger; third, Pat Lytle; and fourth, Fran Hubbert.

Awards for the full year of ’07 were presented: Barbara Armstrong was the ’07 most improved player, Carol Fraser won the ’07 Charm award, and Jane Miller putted her way to the ’07 Putt award. Congratulations to each for an excellent year of play.

The year 2008 promises to be another great year for the Niners. To everyone . . . good health, happiness, and golfing pleasure.
