Are residents willing to pay the cost of keeping the community gated?   The Rancho Murieta Community Services District Ad Hoc Governance Advisory Committee considered these and other questions during the course of a two-hour-plus meeting last week at the CSD Building.  Read more »

A committee is looking into how to cut the community's expenses. (See story above.) One of the ideas -- no more than that at this point -- is to take down the gates and use the resulting savings to handle security another way. Would you favor that?

Raising funds for a skate park

Rancho Murieta Youth Enrichment Advocacy held a car wash Sunday at the Rancho Murieta Association parking lot. The car wash is the latest in a series of fundraisers the volunteer group is staging to build a 10,000-square-foot skate park at Stonehouse Park through donations. Once built, the skate park will be owned and maintained by the Rancho Murieta Association.

Children's religious programs offered at Catholic church

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church is offering religious programs for children. The Catholic Faith Formation Program classes for kindergarten through 5th grade begin Sept. 30 from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. at the church on Cantova Way. The Edge Program, which includes grades 6 through 8, will be held at the church Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at a starting date to be announced.  Read more »

North vandals damage garden items and truck

A group of six or eight vandals roamed through streets in lower Murieta North overnight, tossing garden furniture, lawn ornaments, lights and sprinklers into the streets and doing serious damage to a truck parked in a driveway. Security had received five reports of vandalism by midday Friday.  Read more »

Early RMA budget projects 2.5 percent increase for '09

The preliminary 2009 budget for the Rancho Murieta Association projects an increase of 2.5 percent, which would take monthly dues for members from $137 to $140.47. Since the increase was 3.9 percent in 2008 and 10 percent in 2007, “we’re heading in the right direction,” General Manager David Stiffler said Wednesday.  Read more »
