Kids' Fishing Day coming March 29

The Kiwanis Club of Rancho Murieta will hold its seventh annual Kids' Fishing Day on Saturday, March 29, at Lake Clementia.

Co-sponsored by the Rancho Murieta Fishing Club, the event will include lessons on the importance of good water quality, maintaining habitat for fish, fishing ethics, the care of fish caught, and instruction on casting and fishing, under the leadership of personnel from the California Department of Fish and Game. Trout will be stocked for the event. Free photos of kids with their fish and parents if present will be provided as mementos.

The event, which starts at 8 a.m., is open to children who attend kindergarten through 8th grade and live in the Rancho Murieta, Sloughhouse and Wilton community. Attendance is limited to the first 150 kids who sign up at the Rancho Murieta Business Center. Sign up sheets (parental waiver forms) will be available at the center beginning March 17. Participants must check in at Lake Clementia the morning of the event.

Snacks donated by Barbara's Bakery will be served as the kids arrive. A free barbeque lunch will be provided at 11 a.m. by the Sexton family, owners of Plaza Food Market.
