Change in RMA channel lineup
Published May 9, 2008The Rancho Murieta Association announced a change in its cable TV lineup Friday with the Hallmark Channel moving from Channel 96 to Channel 17, according to General Manager David Stiffler. The change comes as the RMA prepares to launch new programming that will add a dozen high-definition channels to the basic TV service members receive as part of their dues and create a new tier of digital and high-definition programming for subscribers.
Soccer sign-ups May 10
Published May 9, 2008The Rancho Murieta Soccer Club will be at Stonehouse Park Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to noon to accept registrations for the fall 2008 season. Fees are scheduled to increase June 1. Half-hour power outage hits area
Published May 9, 2008[Updated 9:10 a.m.] A half-hour power outage hit the area Friday morning. The Sacramento Municipal Utility District said some 800 homes were without power after a car hit a utility pole about 6:50 a.m. Security reported both North and South were affected, as were traffic lights on Jackson Road. A newly acquired legal opinion says the Rancho Murieta Association cannot on its own stop using member dues to support the cable system, the RMA announced Thursday morning. The opinion is in response to an effort to gather proxy votes to make the RMA stop assessing unwilling members for cable services. Read more »

80 donors visit community blood drive
Published May 5, 2008Last week's community blood drive brought out 80 donors and collected 73 units of blood. According to a BloodSource representative, the donations have the potential to save hundreds of lives. The Rancho Murieta Women's Club sponsors the drive, which BloodSource conducts four times a year at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Cantova Way. The next is July 28.

Hundreds attended Sunday's kick-off event at Lake Clementia Park for the 2008 Entertainment, Theatre and Culture for Rancho Murieta summer season. They enjoyed a selection of wines from award-winning local wineries and desserts created by notable restaurants and bakery chefs. Live music was provided by Robert Monteleone's Symposium Jazz Band. Property tax reduction available for seniors, disabled
Published May 3, 2008Residents 65 or older and disabled people in the community may apply for a 70 percent reduction in a local property tax if they have no school-age children living with them. The Measure A assessment passed in 1987 and 1998 provides funds to improve schools. Read more »
