Operating Engineers training center trainees and grading instructors will begin grading dirt roads at Lake Chesbro and the Community Services District water treatment plant early next week, the CSD announced Tuesday.

The work will level the roads and fill in ruts. Residents can expect to see a variety of heavy equipment at the lake, including water trucks used to keep the dust down, a scraper to smooth the roads, and compaction equipment. There is no paving work involved since the roads will remain dirt.

The training center recently completed a similar project at the district’s wastewater treatment plant, said Paul Siebensohn, CSD director of field operations. “The thing’s like brand new right now, very nice,” he said. “We hope to have the same thing around Chesbro, Clementia, and then Calero. … It’s greatly appreciated.”

After Chesbro, the Operating Engineers are expected to tackle roads around Lake Clementia, and finally Lake Calero, he said.

There is no timeline for the completing the work, since it depends on the training center’s schedule.
