RMA says cable problem has been fixed

[Updated April 10] The Rancho Murieta Association reported Wednesday that a cable TV problem affecting eight channels has been fixed, though neighbors disagreed in posts here at midweek. By week's end, the problems seemed resolved.  RMA General Manager David Stiffler said Tuesday that there were problems with channels 4, 18, 31, 32, 33, 40, HBO and Cinemax because of a faulty wire in one of the satellite dishes that bring in programming.

Cable problems

In addition to the channels listed, we have especially bad reception on Channel 13 and relatively bad reception on Channel 10. Is this a widespread problem, too? Bob Irelan

I am trying to watch the

I am trying to watch the Giant's game on 12 and that channel is making a humming sound and then goes off the air. Then there is no sound and then you see the Direct TV logo.

RMA gets an F on Cable Service Management

RMA has been stating that they have made huge improvements in cable quality.  All week I have been getting terrible service on all my channels with frequent "poor signal" or "no signal" messages.  I have given up even calling RMA anymore and will be converting to one of the dish networks very soon.

How long does it take for RMA Management to know there is a problem?  They have a TV right in the entry way of their office.

RMA's management of the Cable and Broadband Service would make for a great TV Realty show.  Maybe they could call it the Money Pit, no I guess not since that has already been used.  Maybe Dumb and Dumber, no I guess that has also been used.

How about, what happens when you fire your cable manager and have no one that knows what the ______ is going on!

The RMA General Manager and BOD President need to be held directly accountable for the ongoing fiasco of the Cable Television Service.  They need to both be replaced.

Unstable Signal/Poor Quality Signal

We have DIRECTV in our main room, but have RMA cable in our computer room since we still have to pay for its service. I rarely watch TV on RMA cable due to the superior quality and selection of DIRECTV. However, tonight I was in the computer room watching RMA cable and I see the 'Unstable Signal'/'Poor quality signal' only on channels 31, 32, and 33. I do not think this issue has been fixed and I am very pleased I have DIRECTV w/ no issues.

Thank you,

Steve

Ditto

We, like Steve, have Directv in our main living area and in my office I have RM Cable where I typically only watch Ch 10 daily which is crystal clear, of course that's not one of the problem channels. But tonight I'm watching Ch 11 (My 58) and it is grainy.

I am able to get Ch 4 and 33 but the others listed do say No Signal.

Cable problem persists

Agreed, Steve and Beth. There are a number of holes in the lineup, including channels that are supposed to be fixed.

It has been a while since I've looked at RMA cable (we've had Dish for years), and I have to say the picture looks much better than I remember -- at least on the channels that are there.

My problem was fixed

I had some similar issues for channels 2-5 (ironically, the RMA meeting coverage was likely fuzzy).

When I had the techs come out to my home, they found some filters previously installed in my home (or close-by) which casued my particular problems. Apparently there are a number of in-home problems that are being uncovered like this since the upgrades have occurred to the system. Many times the techs don't know about the specific problems until they are reported. Now, don't hold me to explaining the technical side of things, all I know is that my particular issue was resolved, and it was done in a timely manner.

I strongly advocate for free choice in cable enrollment. However, I am also one of the non-Dish folks out here, and I'm intending to stay with RMA cable, so long as it is comparable in price for the quality of picture on channels that I watch. I don't need 75 more channels that I rarely watch, just to have them.

All in all, I'm willing to see the system upgrades through, get an RMA box in my home, and check it out. If I end up paying much more than Dish/Direct-TV, and I don't get the quality I want, then I'll be gone.

Cable service seems to be back

RMA General Manager David Stiffler has been out of the office handling a family matter, so there has been no announcement, but the cable channels seem back in place, at least in one household.
