“Celebrate with Peter Rivera” lived up to its name Saturday night as Entertainment, Theatre and Culture for Rancho Murieta concluded another concert season at Lake Clementia Amphitheater. Rivera is the former lead singer and drummer for Rare Earth, a group whose heyday was in the late 1960s and early '70s. Despite a power failure that interrupted the show for nearly an hour, Rivera and his band gave new life to rock, Motown and funk classics, from “It’s Your Thing” to a bluesy version of “Tobacco Road.”  Read more »

Crash on Jackson Road leaves one dead, two seriously injured

The crash that killed one person was investigated by the CHP for possible driving under the influence by one of the drivers.

[Updated at 8:35 p.m.] A three-car accident on Jackson Road between Rancho Murieta's North and South gates left one person dead and two seriously injured and tied up traffic in both directions for 3 1/2 hours Saturday.  Read more »

De La Cruz Drive resident bitten by rattlesnake

A De La Cruz Drive resident was bitten by a rattlesnake Wednesday evening and apparently is doing well. A Security log entry lists the time of the incident as 6:08 p.m. and says Station 59 responded to the bite, but it provides few details. The entry reads: STATION 59 ADVISED A RESIDENT WAS BITTEN IN THE HAND / RESIDENT WAS TRANSPORTED TO FOLSOM / RESIDENT DOING WELL / SNAKE STILL AT LARGE. Security would not release the name of the victim.

RMA launches first half of improved cable system

[Updated Sept. 5] The Rancho Murieta Association on Thursday announced the long-awaited launch of its new cable system, with the first 38 channels of enhanced digital, high-definition and music programming.  When complete, the digital system will have up to 80 digital and high-def and 55 music channels, the RMA said.  On Friday, the RMA explained the costs.  Read more »

Women's Club stages mah jongg tournament

The Rancho Murieta Women's Club is holding its third mah jongg tournament at the Rancho Murieta Association Building Thursday and Friday. Amy Tesler, one of the founders of the club activity, helped Margie Bowes and other players during Thursday's tournament play. The game of tiles originated in China and combines skill, strategy and chance.
