Things tattooed on your brain

Speedy Speedy Alka-Seltzer says, "Hi, kids!  Of course you remember me!"

Have you ever been surprised by the things you've got rattling around in your head ... things that serve no good purpose, you haven't thought about in years, but -- whoa! -- they suddenly appear?

For example, if you are more than 45 years old, I'll bet you a coffee at MarShaTes that if I were to say, "Winston tastes good," you would answer back instantly "...like a cigarette should."

That's because of years of advertising exposure, in print, on radio, on TV. The "Winston tastes good" campaign began in 1954 and featured those words in a catch phrase and a jingle in every medium then known to Madison Avenue. Can you still sing the jingle? I bet you can. I know I can. (Remember the jingle's double drumming -- "Winston tastes good like a (beat, beat) cigarette should"?)

That's what comes of encountering something countless times with different senses. (We'll talk another time about the power of memorable smells.)

So here, to amuse or frighten you, is a chance to dust off some things you've been carrying around for years. Complete these ad phrases or jingles.  The answers are below.
