A reception for David Sander, one of three candidates vying for the Republican nomination for state Assembly, takes place Friday, May 23, at a Murieta North home.

Bob and Lois Ling are hosting a cocktail reception in honor of Sander at 6032 Puerto Drive. The public is invited to attend the informal gathering, which begins at 5:30 p.m.

The District 10 Assembly seat is currently held by Assemblyman Alan Nakanishi, who is not eligible to run again because of term limitations. The district covers Amador County, a portion of Sacramento County that includes Rancho Murieta, and parts of El Dorado and San Joaquin counties.

Sander is a Rancho Cordova councilman and former mayor. He faces Paul Hegyi and Jack Sieglock in the June 3 Republican primary.

There are two candidates for the Democratic nomination, Alyson L. Huber and Jim Cook.
