You supply the same information you've provided in the past when posting an ad or letter at RM.com -- your name, address, phone and e-mail. Your private information is not published, and it's not shared with anyone. It is only used to verify your account before it's activated.

Once you've registered, you never need to supply your information again.  You can post and see your postings appear immediately.

To get started, click in either of the following places.

  • Click "Register" beneath stories on the home page:

Not signed in

  • Or click "Create new account" in the box at the lower right of the home page:

Log-in box

That will take you to a page where you'll enter your information:

Registration 1

Enter your information.  As mentioned, this is the same information you've provided to RM.com in the past when you were posting a letter to the editor or a classified ad.

(Under "User account" you'll see tabs that determine the things you can do on this page -- "Create new account," "Log in" or "Request new password."  Clicking a tab will change the content of the page.)

Beneath that are the "Good-neighbor rules" for the site.  Read them carefully.  They're brief.

Registration 2

And in the last step, enter your user name and e-mail address.  Your user name must be your actual first and last names.  If you enter something else, your registration will not be approved.

Then click the "Create new account" button.

Registration 3

You'll get an e-mail telling you the registration has been received and inviting you to come in to activate your account and choose a password.  Once your account is approved, you'll get a confirmation e-mail.
