So, it's agreed. RM is predominately in favor of a Rec Center with a large indoor swimming pool. So, what do we do now?

Rancho Murieta is a great place to be. And I can see that most people agree that the quality of life as a resident here would be greatly improved if our families can get together and share in the good wholesome, healthy, fun interaction of engaging in various activities at a local Rec Center with a large swimming pool.

The nay-sayers usually stick to the subject of the costs. Liabilities may be an issue, too.

However, what if a Rec Center could be built across the street from the plaza on Murieta Drive? Perhaps if the facilities were available for outside patrons like those of Plymouth, Wilton, Ione, and even Elk Grove. To have more paying families can contribute to help fund the project. Now's not the time to be selfish. The more families come to be members, the lower the cost could be for us all. Maybe we could even get Plymouth, Wilton, and Ione to help finance the construction of the facility. More people involved, is more money to feed into the project. But the great end result would be that, it would be right here in Rancho Murieta for us all to enjoy. Does that sound do-able? Would that help to make a Rec Center here more possible?

Maybe not Elk Grove

Hi Kerry,

The only comment I might make is that I doubt Elk Grove would want to be involved as they probably have their own facilities. But Wilton & Sloughhouse would be good candidates.

You would need an

You would need an organization to lead the project. With the vision that you have in mind, CSD would be the logical choice. I don't know if it would ever happen though.

Community Center

A suggestion.  We have several great service organizations within our community that may have an interest in developing a inter-club 5 year plan/approach to develop such a center.  Rotary, Kiwanis, Optimists, and other interested parties together have performed this type of activities in other communities around the country and world.

Beyond the pools and fun, a community center provides an access point for other philanthropic outreach opportunities, such as Senior Health Clinics and other community service programs.  Many such programs can be funded via grants.

As president this year of the local Rotary club, I am more that willing to enter discussions with the other service clubs to discover if this would be a viable path.

That would be great, Lilli

I am, and I'm sure many people here, are pleased that somebody may finally take action to get this project going.

Please, keep us posted on the actions and discussions. As you can see, many people here are very interested in seeing this finally happen.

I'll reach out to both Kiwanis and Optimists in the next weeks and let you know what they and my own club thinks.

The Rec Center and the Community Swimming Pool

Hello Lilli,

How have your discussions gone over with the Rotary Club, Kiwanis, and the Optimists, about this ardently-sought-after Rec Center for Rancho Murieta?
