Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE)Exchange Student Program for Youth. As an exchange student, a year is spent living with host families and attending school in a country other than your own. Students learn a new way of living, possibly a new language, and a great deal about themselves. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) RYLA is in intensive one week training program for youth ages 14-18. Talented young people attend camp that is organized by the Rotary Club District 5180. Participant’s expenses are paid in full by the Rotary Club of Rancho Murieta. RYLA enables young people to debate issues of professional responsibility & human relations improve leadership and communication skills, learn about businesses and institutions, and meet Rotarians while having fun and making friends. Apply Now!-Group Study Exchange (GSE)-Apply Now!GSE program is sponsored by the Rotary International Foundation and is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women between the ages of 25-40, the initial years of their professional life. The program provides travel grants for teams of participants to exchange visits between paired areas, in the spring of 09 it will be Brazil for our District. We are actively seeking non-Rotarian professionals who wish to have a life changing experience. The program lasts for six weeks. The deadline for next year is 9/16/08. Community Health Fair Community: On October 12th, the RCRM will host a day of information on health. KCRA’s Dr. Tom Hopkins will be our keynote speaker along with three panels of physicians and health care professions’ discussing Wellness, Aging, & Chronic Disease. The event is free to all residents and we will have healthcare vendors participating throughout the day providing free testing and services to our community.
St. Baldrick’s Cancer ResearchSt. Baldrick's began as a casual conversation between friends and has exploded into the world's biggest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer! In eight years, events have taken place in 18 countries and 48 US states, raising over $49.5 million, and shaving more than 71,000 heads. Every child, teen, and family deserves our very best effort to cure childhood cancer, and that's just what they'll get from the St. Baldrick's community. The club sells Luminaries during the Christmas Holidays also to support this wonderful cause.
Recycling Can Donations (Spring 09) Community Service: During our Rotary at Work day last Spring, our club made a commitment to set funding aside every year to provide Recycling Can Donations to every Park in the Rancho Murieta area, the first being presented on Earth Day 2009. Performing Arts for Youth ProjectThe RCRM is developing a new project for 2009 that will provide our local youth with an opportunity to become involved in the Arts and have a venue for performing and learning about all aspects of music, theater, stage, and dance. We are seeking interested adults and youth who have an interest in volunteering to be a part of the development of this new concept for our community. San Carlos Mexico Scholarship ProgramThe RCRM in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Jackson sponsor middle and high school educational opportunities for deserving students in the San Carlos Mexico area who cannot afford the costs to attend state sponsored school through the ninth grade. The Rotary Club of San Carlos developed a scholarship vehicle that allows 100% of all funds received to go directly to the deserving students.
Peru Earthquake Victim ProjectLast year a group of local Rotarians in Folsom brought to our local clubs attention an urgent need in Ica Peru, the town that was completely demolished after an 8.0 earthquake. To help each District club made donations to help build homes and bring water to the 300 displaced families of this community
The Rotary Club of Rancho Murieta accepts specific community projects for funding consideration between July and December each year, with funding awards provided in the Second and Third Quarter of 2009. If you have a project for consideration please contact Vicki Warner, Committee Chair for Project Funding at (916)354-8887. We do require written requests with an outline of our project or program.
The Rancho Murieta Community has a new service friend in the Rotary Club of Rancho Murieta, we simply add to the other great organizations programs and projects already established over many years here in the community. Tickets are available at MarShaTes, RM Business Center, and RMA. Silent Auction. Cost is $40 per person/$75 per couple. All proceeds go to funding Community and Youth Projects.Luminaries – December 08: Light Up Rancho Murieta and benefit the defeat of cancer in kids. Proceeds go to St. Baldrick’s and prizes will be given for the “most laminated” street on Christmas Eve Night. So buy your bags, help kids, and brighten up the holidays too! St. Patrick Day Bash – March 14th: Come and get some of that Irish Luck at our first St. Patrick’s Day Bash that will benefit international and vocational programs.
