QuickPoll: Would we take down the gates and redirect the savings?

(This poll, open 48 hours, closed Aug. 20, 2008.) A committee is looking into how to cut the community's expenses. (See story above.) One of the ideas -- no more than that at this point -- is to take down the gates and use the resulting savings to handle security another way. Would you favor that?
