Summerfest lights up Stonehouse once again

Summerfest ride

It was goodbye to soccer fields and hello to magic as the rides, midway and bright lights of Summerfest brought out another side of Rancho Murieta Friday night. Once again Stonehouse Park was tranformed into an annual celebration of the best of small-town carnivals. Under a neon-lit sky, rides went up and down and sideways to the delight of the kids, and the tantalizing aromas of funnel cakes and corn dogs scented the air. The ninth Summerfest had begun.

Summerfest midway

The midway games dared the crowd to test their skill and luck at winning everything from stuffed animals to goldfish.

Summerfest crowd

The celebration brought out all ages for an evening of nonstop fun.

Update: Report of fights is false

Two comments were posted overnight under the name of an RM.com member. The member says he did not post the comments, but it's possible a relative who has his password did the posting.

One comment concerned supposed fights at the end of Friday's Summerfest. Security Sgt. Jim Bieg says the department has no report of fights as described, and neither does Station 59, which would have provided medical assistance.

The second comment was an opinion critical of Security.

Both comments were removed Saturday morning, as soon as it became clear that there were questions about their origin.
