I didn't realize there were so many republicans living in Rancho Murieta. I guess I should have checked into that before I moved here. :)
It was an interesting debate though.

Scott - When expectations are exceedingly low, it becomes relatively easy to impress.

Werd up Scott
Somebody had to say it. Don't fret, the dinosaurs are a dyin off and at a rapid pace.

At one time there was quite a majority of conservatives out here. It is not at all surprising that a liberal would comment that "I should have checked before I moved here". However it it still a fact that there are many more conservatives than liberals out here if you see the registration numbers.

I made the comment based on the national perception that Biden was the overall winner, yet Murieta showed a distinct preference for Palin.
It must be all the "Hockey Moms" in Murieta. I guess only a liberal would say that as well.

I must have missed that "national perception:. If the national perception comes from the major networks and CNN I now completely understand. I try hard not to pay attention to their opinion. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

John
I peg you as a FOX NEWS Guys. Is it Greta or O'Reilly?
Sounds like a Katie Couric question. As a business man I don't get home in time to watch the news. I read articles in several papers online at my office in the morning including some quote unquote liberal publications. My comment still stands, it's all "opinion". Never news but spin on the news from both sides. That's the beauty of thinking for ourselves. I wish more people in our country would do that.

I am afraid to see what the world would look like if more people thought for themselves. Our political system would be in shambles for one. I mean without the blind allegiance to party politics where would we be?

Ever heard of Davis?

John couldn't be more right
(no pun intended) I give the ol satellite radio dial a spin from one end of the political continuum to the other !
I've heard some of the most slanted and outlandish spins from Air America, only to be outdone by Faux News.
I listen to NPR on our local station KXJZ (90.9FM) for the educational shows (e.g. Science Friday, Talk of the nation, All things considered , etc.) but I turn it off when the top of the hour AP garbage come on.
PS..I've used John's services for my car before and he does SUPERB work. Even though the Reagan pictures almost made me vomit
. Sorry John, it's Friday and I'm feeling frisky.
News is not a service, it's a tool !

Rancho Murieta has always been Sacramento County's little Orange County enclave, consistently voting several percentage points to the right of both the county and the state in general elections.
People watch debates and perceive what they perceive based on what they believed and perceived going in. No big surprise there. RM is still "O.C. North"

you're giving us 'hockey moms' a bad rap
! OBAMA is our hope for a better future. It is alarming to me that in this day and age Palin (a WOMAN for heavens sake) does not believe in a woman's right to choose. Archaic!

Wilbur is right about the percentage of Repubs to Dems, but since I moved here almost 22 years ago, there are certainly many more Dems that when I moved in. Also, for a long time, many Dems were afraid of even saying that they were Dems because we were so out numbered. And some people out here weren't very nice to us, if we happened to put out a political sign as Wilbur could contest to that didn't have Bush's name on it for an example!! I do hope that people are more respective to other peoples choices than they used to be this time around. I unfortunetaly didn't vote after either debates, but I had strong feelings about who "won" both of them. Myrna Solomon

Oh, dear. Here come the partisan wars, I fear. Once the national election issues start getting discussed, Katie bar the door. Rancho Murieta is my hideout from the "real world" and I know many others feel that way. In past national election cycles we've started hacking at each other over external partisan affairs, which encumbers dealing with each other as neighbors and focusing on community affairs. And I admit to getting sucked into the reindeer fun myself in the past, and being sorry I did. Are we going to start that again? I sure hope not. There are other good places to carry on that war.

If you really want to know your candidate, then look deeper than just the words comming out of his mouth. When Obama's lips are moving, you know he is lying.

"Why much of the public and the media have been so mesmerized by the words and the image of Mr. Obama, and so little interested in learning about the factual reality, was perhaps best explained by an official of the Democratic Party: "People don't come to Obama for what he's done, they come because of what they hope he can be.

Ryan, I belive that that dinosaurs are extinct. I might have missed school that day. Or is that another right wing conspiracy? Instead of Rep vs. Dem, how about Tax Payers vs Politicians.

I want my tax credit increase for my kids. Mo Money Mo Money Mo Money . . . oh wait, there it goes paying for gas to get to work.

Come on Mike! You're smarter than this !
Mike, nice choice of links but you know that no one believes what they read, what they hear or what they watch on television, right? Real facts don't seem to matter much in this current race. Nobody talks about Franklin Raines ruining Fannie Mae even though he was the director and walked with 90 million. Such a sharp guy, he's now Obama's top economic advisor. You would think that would scare people but it does not. You also know that Bush haters will continue to blame him for everything that has happened in the last twenty or thirty years. Give it up because as I said facts and information do not matter!
Can we please stop using the words Republican or Democrat? Time to call it like it is, liberal or conservative.

Where do these half-truths and innuendo come from? I find it disturbing and distressing when people quote supposed “facts” that are merely malicious “sounds bites” and partisan politics infesting our airways without independently researching their legitimacy. The reality is…there has never been any affiliation/association between Obama and Raines as you so adamantly profess to be fact. Obviously you are easily influenced by the rhetoric and disinformation so deceitfully spread by others. Would recommend you do some in-depth analysis and investigation of your own to uncover the real truths before claiming them as “reality”. Because relying on hearsay and innuendo espoused by others in the political arena is extremely dangerous. Would also suggest you add factcheck.org to your browser’s favorites list for future reference.
