RanchoMurieta.com has changed. Welcome to the new neighborhood!

The site, seven years old, is now more of a true community network and more timely. We'll still offer great stories, photos and comments from Murietans, but new content will appear instantly, including yours.

Here is a peek at some of the improvements, which have been months in the making:

  • A glance at the home page will show you what's new up to the second -- stories, comments by neighbors, classifieds and other postings.
  • Classified ad buyers and sellers who are site members can negotiate through private messages over this community network -- no need to publish a phone number or e-mail address. There are 17 categories of ads where you're able to post an ad and photo yourself (for free!), and the ad will appear immediately.
  • If you've ever posted a letter or classified ad at RM.com, you know there can be a delay while your personal information is confirmed. In the new system, you provide your personal information just once. Then, as a member, you're free to post instantly -- comments, classified ads, photos and more.
  • You can add your comments to the end of stories. For comments that aren't related to stories, there is a forum. You write, you click the button, and your thoughts are online.
  • Every nonprofit community organization is invited to have its own page at RM.com to reach the thousands of people who read the site. The same rules apply -- it's your content, and it will appear the instant you post it.
  • Want to write about community issues? Activate your own blog and start writing.
  • All news stories will be organized under categories in the new site, making it easy to track coverage of key topics.

As you look around, you will find some rough spots. Please be patient as they're addressed, but don't be shy about pointing them out. We'll appreciate your thoughts or suggestions, either by making a comment here or by writing to editor@ranchomurieta.com.
