Murietans were among the 10,000 Sacramento Municipal Utility District customers who lost power for 17 minutes shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday.
The outage occurred when a fuse blew on a large distribution line at the Hedge substation in Rancho Cordova, according to SMUD spokesperson Chris Capra. The fuse was replaced, restoring power at 1:27 p.m., he said.
During the outage, which affected all of Rancho Murieta, the community relied on backup generators to operate the gates and various Community Services District water and sewer facilities.
