Summerfest carnival

The annual Summerfest Carnival, a fundraiser staged by community volunteers, takes place Aug. 24 and 25 at Stonehouse Park. The event opens at 5 p.m. Friday with carnival rides, bounce houses, slides, food and refreshments, and a Texas Hold'em Poker tournament. The popular Hip Service band performs from 8:30 p.m. to the 11 p.m. close.

On Saturday, gates open at 2 p.m., and the classic car show, a crafts boutique and home improvement expo are added to the mix. The Chili Cook-off tasting starts at 5 p.m. and Summerfest Bingo, a new event, takes place from 3 to 7 p.m. The country-western band California Cowboys starts playing at 8:30 p.m., and an outdoor movie will be shown at the ball field after sunset.
