Fireworks vied with neon in the night sky over Stonehouse Park Saturday as the Summerfest carnival wrapped up its two-day run. For many, Labor Day marks the end of summer, but for Murietans, it's Summerfest, the annual festival that celebrates the carefree joys of the season. Summerfest is a volunteer effort founded and run by Murietans.

Saturday afternoon, children at Summerfest rode planes, trains, automobiles and even big red apples, and all motorcycle rules were suspended for the day. Carnival fun continued with live music, bingo, bounce houses, games and prizes, and a tempting menu of treats at concession stands along the midway.
