ETC plans a sparkler for the July 4 weekend
SuperHuey -- a tribute to Huey Lewis and the News -- is ETC's July 5 concert offering, followed on Aug. 2 by Long Time, a tribute to Boston and other rock greats.
[Corrected March 30] If you were among the ETC fans disappointed when the SuperHuey show got rained out last September, well, the sun is shining again. The band -- a tribute to Huey Lewis and the News -- will perform at Lake Clementia Amphitheater on July 5, ETC's second show of the 2014 season. They'll be followed on Aug. 2 by Long Time, a tribute to Boston and other guitar rock greats.
During the 1980s and early '90s, Huey Lewis and the News scored a total of 19 top-ten singles. The seven-piece SuperHuey creates the feel-good Huey Lewis experience with those hits, songs that became part of American pop culture: “The Power of Love,” “The Heart of Rock & Roll,” “Heart and Soul,” “Hip to be Square” and many more.
Huey Lewis and The News have carried the banner as the quintessential American rock band, endearing them to millions of fans. So for the July 4 weekend, grab your 501 jeans, your Ray-bans, your linen sport coat and your skinny tie and join SuperHuey at Lake Clementia Amphitheater.
Long Time performs the best of Boston and a lot of other bands.
For years now, Long Time has been performing the hits of the band Boston, but Long Time doesn’t stop there. The band’s Aug. 2 show at Lake Clementia Amphitheater will offer hard-rocking music from a half-dozen other hit-making bands. It’s show #3 in ETC’s 2014 season.
The distinctive Boston sound -- guitar harmonies and big vocals -- that launched hits like “More Than a Feeling,” “Piece of Mind,” “Smokin’,” “Amanda” and “Don’t Look Back,” will give life to songs from legendary bands like Journey, Foreigner, Styx, Kansas, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy and Deep Purple.
Long Time is made up of talented Northern California musicians who’ve been performing at festivals, corporate events, private parties and special occasions since 2008.
All ETC show tickets are $20 for members and $30 for non-members. The shows start at 8:30 p.m.
Tickets will be available in front of Local Bean at the ETC tickets table Friday and Saturday two weeks before the show. Tickets are available for members at the Biz Center. Non-members can purchase at Local Bean, Go Fore Pizza and the Biz Center at any time.
The Country Club will offer beer and wine for sale along with a specialty cocktail prior to each show of the season.
ETC, which is run by community volunteers, plans four shows this summer. Details about the season-opening show were announced Saturday; details about the remaining show, on Aug. 30, will be announced here by ETC Monday.
