Gypsy horses perform at Equestrian Center

Gypsy riders

Beautiful Gypsy horses performed at the Murieta Equestrian Center Saturday evening, and these riders, warming up outside the arena, provided a vivid reminder of the breed's heritage. The Gypsy horse originated in Britain and Ireland, bred by the Romany people to pull wagons or caravans known as vardos. The horses have powerful bodies, abundant manes and tails, and "feathering" on their legs.  The horses' gentle dispositions allowed children at the show to approach them and get better acquainted.
