Join your neighbors for the first Rancho Murieta Turkey Trot
If you’re in the mood for a little run with a few friends Thanksgiving morning, you only have to go as far as the North Gazebo. Some neighbors are staging a 5K Rancho Murieta Turkey Trot through the streets of Rancho Murieta to benefit an area food bank.
The email invitation calls for Murietans to meet at 7:30 at the Gazebo, where the run will begin. The run will follow the path of the July 4 Fun Run. (”Then perhaps a morning ‘hair of the dog’ after the run...?” the invitation says.)
You’re asked to bring a non-perishable food item, which will be delivered to Twin Lakes Food Bank in Folsom.
From the Twin Lakes web site, here are items to consider donating:
Tuna and canned meat, canned vegetables, canned fruit, chili, beans, pork and beans, peanut butter, ravioli, stew, soup.
Pasta, rice, macaroni ‘n' cheese, Hamburger Helper, side dish rice, crackers.
Bath soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, toilet paper, razors, shampoo.
Diapers, baby food, formula, wipes, blankets.
Anything that is pop-top or individual-serving containers, sleeping bags and blankets.
