It doesn’t take long to watch the Amgen Tour of California. From this spot, on Latrobe Road about a mile west of Stonehouse Road and Rancho Murieta, it took a little more than a minute Monday afternoon. The first shot is a small group of cyclists, probably a breakaway group grabbing the lead, and then the bulk of the riders, called a peloton, zooms by.

Photos from Amgen
John Merchant is first in with photos. He writes, "Leaders on Dillard. We stopped coming home from Fresno."
And then: "The rest of the pack."
Did not think about a photo but saw an "early bird" group of cyclists before Noon. There were about eight men in light blue shirts bicyling and being followed by two large Mercedes vans which advertised they were officially part of the tour and provided massages and other health-type relief for the participants. My husband guessed they were not "offical" racers but just a group out for a ride. They turned right from Scott onto Latrobe.
Cool, I've never seen a bike race before. Thanks for the video.
