Al Brennan, 30-year Murietan, dies at 88

One of Al Brennan’s favorite places to eat was Sam’s Hof Brau in Sacramento, and while not all his children shared his love for prime rib sandwiches and coconut cream pie, when the family gathered after his death, everyone agreed, “Let’s go there, in memory of Pop.”  “So we went and celebrated Al’s birthday, the five kids and me … as a little, early memorial,” said Mary Brennan, his wife of 67 years. Alicerae Hanley, active volunteer, dies at 97

Alicerae Hanley, a former resident who pursued an active retirement that included golf, bridge and volunteerism, died in Sacramento on Feb. 4, a day before her 98th birthday. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Feb. 27 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, the church on Cantova Way that she helped found.

Dev Clark, sportsman and family man, dies

Dev Clark, a man who loved his family and the outdoors, died Jan. 23 at the age of 89. Services will be held Saturday in Salt Lake City. A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Local Bean Cafe in Rancho Murieta.

Mr. Clark enjoyed meeting people. He worked part-time at Ace Hardware in Murieta Plaza for several years. He served on the Rancho Murieta Village board. He also volunteered at the Sacramento Railroad Museum, conducting tours.

He loved to travel and to engage in outdoor activities – golf, fly fishing, snow skiing, water skiing and camping. He earned a private pilot’s license in 1975 and later received a multi-engine rating. Read more » about Dev Clark, sportsman and family man, dies

Faymarie Mayes, 30-year Murietan, dies at 77

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday for Faymarie Mayes, who died Jan. 14 at the age of 77. She had lived in Rancho Murieta for 30 years. Services will be held at Rancho Murieta Community Church, on Cantova Way.

Said a family remembrance, “She loved spending time with family, who affectionately called her Mom, Grandma, G-ma, ‘G’ and Gigi, playing bridge with several groups of amazing friends in Rancho Murieta, reading several novels a week, traveling by air and sea and being a member of the Bonnet Rouge Red Hat Society. Emil 'Gene' DeCrona dies at 91

Emil “Gene” DeCrona, a longtime Murietan who loved travel, golf, motorcycles and outdoor activities, died Jan. 20 in Carmichael at the age of 91. A funeral Mass will take place 1 p.m. Feb. 2 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church on Cantova Way. A reception will be held at the church reception hall. Ken Heimbecker, 14-year Murietan, dies at 80

Ken Heimbecker, a Rancho Murieta resident for 14 years, died Wednesday at age 80. He and Carmen, his wife of 51 years, moved to Rancho Murieta after retirement and both greatly enjoyed the people, the golf and the wonderful life.

Mr. Heimbecker loved fly fishing, golf and the Giants. He and his mother-in-law, Versie Motch, survived many night games at Candlestick Park. He was an active member of the San Jose Flycasters for many years. He owned and operated The Midge Fly Shop while teaching flytying and casting for San Jose City College Adult Education.

Golfer, fisherman John Robinson dies at 79

John Robinson, a Murietan for 17 years, died Thursday at his home at the age of 79. Services will be held at noon Tuesday at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church on Cantova Way, followed by a celebration of his life from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Country Club.

A member of the Fishing Club, the Senior Men’s Golf Club and the Country Club, Mr. Robinson is remembered by his family this way: “John enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting along with talking to anyone about politics. … He had a passion for the San Francisco 49ers and Giants, Thanksgiving turkey, Asian food and anything chocolate.” Read more » about Golfer, fisherman John Robinson dies at 79

Nurse and volunteer Laurie Beck dies

Laurie Beck, known for her volunteer work with the bereavement ministry at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, died Oct. 29 at age 69. She and her husband, Jim, moved to Rancho Murieta in 1989.

While Mrs. Beck’s bereavement work brought her in contact with people who had lost a loved one, she also spent more than 35 years working as a registered nurse and in all aspects of medical care. She was most proud of having worked as a nurse with the Red Cross in the Hurricane Katrina cleanup and of her volunteer service with the Lompoc Police Department during the four years she lived there. Gaby Martel, beloved by many, dies at 94

[Date of services corrected] Constance Percy Baker Enzensperger, who realized her childhood dream of becoming an airline stewardess, died July 23 at the age of 78. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 13 at St. Vincent De Paul Church on Cantova Way, with a reception held immediately after at the Country Club.
