CSD gets independent review of development planning for water and wastewater
Published January 22, 2010The presentation of an independent peer review of infrastructure planning for the water and wastewater needs of future development took place at the Rancho Murieta Community Services District board meeting Wednesday before a small audience of development critics and county officials. The peer review examines water, wastewater and drought planning studies the CSD prepared between 1990 and 2007. When the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors authorized the review in September 2007, it was described as a possible beginning for a master plan update that would determine how many new homes Rancho Murieta could accommodate. Sacramento's library director finds the bookmobile is busy in Murieta

Sheriff's Department comes out to meet Murieta

Sheriff's Department representatives turned out Tuesday at the Community Services District Building to meet the community and explain the realignment of service areas that's moved coverage for Rancho Murieta to the South Bureau. Sheriff's Lt. Rosie Enriquez, South Bureau commander, said the change has meant "a great increase" in sheriff's presence here, and said officers have "excellent rapport" with Security. Despite budget cutbacks, Enriquez said, "We'll do our very best to have an officer in the area 24/7" and encouraged residents to call the communications center at 874-5115 to report criminal activity as it occurs. Crime Prevention Specialist Laura Grossman said she looked forward to establishing a Neighborhood Watch program here.

County is negotiating with CSD to build public-safety radio tower

County begins felling trees at Airport

The felling of 148 trees on county parkland next to the runway at Rancho Murieta Airport began Wednesday morning.
The tree-cutting at the Rancho Murieta Airport was already under way Wednesday morning when Sacramento County Deputy Parks Director Jill Ritzman led a media contingent from the airport parking lot to county parkland between the runway and the Cosumnes River. A backhoe was loading huge logs and leafy debris from felled black walnut trees into a truck on the dusty levee road as the group arrived. Read more »
