Country Club holds open house Sunday

The Rancho Murieta Country Club is holding an open house for the public Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the clubhouse. The event provides an opportunity to meet the club's new general manager, Stan Korich. Complimentary beer, wine, soft drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Tours and information about membership, golf groups and facilities will be available. For reservations, contact Cheryl at 354-3400.

Blues and Brews

The fifth annual Kiwanis Blues and Brews event Saturday at Lake Clementia Amphitheater attracted what looked like its biggest crowd yet as hundreds enjoyed a celebration for the senses beside the lake on a perfect Indian summer evening. Live bands played blues and rock, artists and artisans displayed their wares under graceful tents and the convivial crowd enjoyed a unique selection of wines, beers and foods. Blues and Brews is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, Plaza Foods and the Rancho Murieta Association.

Women's Club fashion show takes a travel theme

The Rancho Murieta Women's Club held its fall fashion show and luncheon, "Fashion Ports of Call," at the Country Club Wednesday. Members of the club modeled clothes from area shops for an audience of about 200 women. Judy Dolata, chair of the event, narrated the show along with Mary Brennan, who provided humorous examples of foreign signage where something was lost in translation.  Read more »

The first celebrants gathered at sundown Friday to be part of Dancing Under the Stars, a fundraiser event at Lake Clementia Amphitheater to help build a skatepark. Other events are planned, including a Mexico cruise, a haunted house, pasta feed and more.

“Celebrate with Peter Rivera” lived up to its name Saturday night as Entertainment, Theatre and Culture for Rancho Murieta concluded another concert season at Lake Clementia Amphitheater. Rivera is the former lead singer and drummer for Rare Earth, a group whose heyday was in the late 1960s and early '70s. Despite a power failure that interrupted the show for nearly an hour, Rivera and his band gave new life to rock, Motown and funk classics, from “It’s Your Thing” to a bluesy version of “Tobacco Road.”  Read more »

Saturday's 'Celebrate' show wraps up another ETC summer

Blues and Brews coming Sept. 27

The annual Blues and Brews celebration takes place Saturday, Sept. 27, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Lake Clementia Amphitheater. The event offers blues music, beer and wine tasting, specialty food vendors, an arts and crafts fair, and silent and live auctions. Tickets for the adults-only event are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Blues and Brews is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, Plaza Foods and the Rancho Murieta Association. [Updated with car contest winners] Day Two of Summerfest added high-flying skateboard and BMX exhibitions and the classic car show. All three were free. Two performances of the BMX show were offered Saturday afternoon on the Stonehouse Park basketball courts. Stunt riders delighted the crowd with feats of cycling skill on the ground and in the air.  Read more »

It was goodbye to soccer fields and hello to magic as the rides, midway and bright lights of Summerfest brought out another side of Rancho Murieta Friday night. Once again Stonehouse Park was tranformed into an annual celebration of the best of small-town carnivals. Under a neon-lit sky, rides went up and down and sideways to the delight of the kids, and the tantalizing aromas of funnel cakes and corn dogs scented the air. ETC wraps up season with 'Celebrate With Peter Rivera'

The grand finale of the Entertainment, Theatre and Culture concert season takes place Sept. 6, when “Celebrate With Peter Rivera” comes to Lake Clementia Amphitheater for a dance concert. Peter Rivera made his mark in the rock world as the lead vocalist and drummer for Rare Earth. The band sold over 25 million records in the ‘60s and ‘70s and made top 10 hits “Get Ready,” I’m Losing You,” “Born to Wander,” “Hey Big Brother” and the enduring anthem “I Just Want to Celebrate.”  Read more »
