Hal Harris dies a month after his wife's death

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Murieta Village resident Hal Harris 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church on Cantova Way. Mr. Harris died a month after his wife, Lillian, who is remembered as a founder of the Rancho Murieta Voices choral group. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at East Lawn Mortuary, 9189 East Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, and the rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Read more »

Lillian Harris, Murieta Voices founder, dies at 79

Murieta Village resident Lillian Harris, who died Feb. 28 at the age of 79, leaves the community a legacy of music. The choral group she helped found will honor her memory by singing at her funeral mass. Rancho Murieta Voices will sing two of her favorite songs, "I Believe"  and "Let There Be Peace on Earth." Hugh Davey, retired engineer, dies at 80

Hugh Davey, a Murietan for more than 15 years, died Jan. 23 due to complications from a fall at his home. He was 80 years old.

Mr. Davey was born in Utica, N.Y., and served in the Navy during the Korean War.  He moved to California in 1961 and worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry, where he met his wife, Diane.  They married in 1962 and celebrated their 50th anniversary last April. Read more »

Patricia Chamberlain, 20-year resident, dies at 75

Patricia Chamberlain, a Murietan for more than 20 years, died of cancer Jan. 12 at the age of 75. Her peaceful death, with family and caregivers at her side, marked the end of an epic struggle with health problems. Her family describes Mrs. Chamberlain as a warrior who battled kidney issues for 45 years. The donation of a kidney by her daughter Kim provided Mrs. Chamberlain with six years of unprecedented good health before she was stricken by the rare cancer that ended her life. Read more »

Orla Jensen, fought Nazi occupation, dies at 87

Orla Jensen, a Rancho Murietan since 1998, was with his son and grandson under the care of hospice nurses when he succumbed to heart disease Nov. 12 at the age of 87. He had lived with health challenges for years and took every day as a victory, his family said. Mr. Jensen's battle against illness was a final act of heroism in an eventful life. He survived the World War II occupation of his native Denmark and went on to play a role in one of his adopted homeland's greatest achievements, the moon landing. Read more »

Bob Cunneen, past Club president, dies at 77

Every year, the Christmas tree went up the weekend after Thanksgiving. But this year was different. Bob Cunneen wanted an early start on Christmas, he told his family. Saturday morning, Mr. Cunneen was in the process of decorating the tree when he collapsed and died. He was 77. Read more »

Lobbyist Keith Ligons dies at 41

A celebration of life will be held for Keith Ligons at the Rancho Murieta Country Club from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Ligons, who lived in Rancho Murieta for about five years, died Oct. 16 at the age of 41. He is survived by his wife, Antonette, and their children, Alisa and Ethan. Read more »
