CSD acts to protect Security officers from lawsuits -- but not expand powers

The Community Services District board of directors voted to grant indemnity from civil lawsuits to patrol officers making a citizen’s arrest, but decided to monitor security operations over the next six months before considering changes in the department’s powers. Other board decisions at Wednesday’s meeting included requiring developers to pay CSD’s legal expenses for negotiating an agreement to provide water and sewer services for new development before resuming negotiations. Burglars use truck to try to yank ATM from Country Store

In a 90-second break-in, robbers entered the Country Store and Burger King in the early hours of Sunday and attempted unsuccessfully to tear out the ATM machine inside.  Read more »

Security officers who make a citizen's arrest in the course of doing their jobs are expected to get support from the Rancho Murieta Community Services District board in the form of a policy providing indemnification from civil actions. Committee gets a look at the options being considered for Security

The Community Services District Security Committee got a preview this week of options the CSD board will consider for the community’s security services. The options are part of the process that began in May when the district’s legal counsel said community services districts don't have police power and can't enact ordinances to regulate personal conduct of citizens.  Read more »

RMA vehicle's tires slashed outside RMA Building

Two tires were slashed on a Rancho Murieta Association vehicle in the RMA Building lot late Tuesday or early Wednesday, officials report. The SUV is used by the Compliance Department.  Read more »

New Joint Security Committee holds first meeting

The first meeting of the newly reconstituted Joint Security Committee takes place Monday at 10 a.m. at the Community Services District Building. The CSD and the Rancho Murieta Association will be represented by directors who were appointed to the committee.
