CSD trying to reduce 20% rate hike, but there's little success so far

The Community Services District is looking for ways to reduce a "worst case" budget increase of 20 percent for 2008-2009, but so far the savings are modest. Rates for water, sewer, garbage collection, drainage and security services would go up in July.  Read more »

Village Craft Faire and Bake Sale

Murieta Village's annual Craft Faire and Bake Sale took place Saturday, and about a dozen vendors turned the Village Clubhouse into a festive display of handmade jewelry, paintings of local scenes, knit scarves, Christmas decorations, baked goods and harvest treats like pomegranate jelly and shelled walnuts.  Read more »

Village elects directors, officers

Murieta Village held its semi-annual membership meeting Thursday and elected Jack Criswell, Joe Robinson and Esperanza Walker to replace departing Directors Joe Robinson, Dev Clark and Robert Brown. The board selected Robinson to serve as president, Richard Garlinghouse as vice president, Zoelaine Lasater as chief financial officer, and Walker as secretary. Topics discussed at the meeting included speeding and stop sign violations, future reserves expenses, and the cable system the Village owns and operates for residents of the age-restricted community of 189 homes.  Read more »

With a Trash 'n' Treasure event at the Plaza and another at Murieta Village, Saturday was made for shoppers of all ages. At the Plaza, Anna Maloney, 8, selected jewelry with her mother. The annual yard sale events provided a wide range of goods for treasure seekers as well as a fundraising opportunity for community groups.
