A busy day at the Country Club

It was a festival both outside and inside the Country Club Saturday. In the clubhouse, local artists offered handmade jewelry, glass, ceramics, handbags and paintings for purchase at the Murieta Spring Arts Festival. At the driving range, golfers made their way along a row of colorful tents and selected clubs from a variety of manufacturers for a trial run. Saturday evening a tribute to Duke Ellington was scheduled at the club's Jazz Supper Club for members and their guests.

Temperatures in the 80s Saturday gave the community spring fever -- nearly the summer variety. Some headed for Lake Clementia while others shopped the first Spring Bling Boutique at the Villas Clubhouse. As kids splashed in the water, above, Ryan Kjome caught and then released a hefty bass in the first half hour of fishing with friend Brandon Stomsvik. Meanwhile, shoppers had everything from jewelry to wine tasting to choose from at the Villas event. Delaney Maskovich, 6 months old, waited in her stroller while grandmom Laurie Bowhay shopped for handbags at vendor Natachia Taylor's table, below.

Country Club open house April 6

Spring Bling Boutique coming April 12

The Spring Bling Boutique will be held Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Villas clubhouse. The event includes wine tasting, portrait photography, music and a selection of gift items, purses and accessories, jewelry and cosmetics. ETC opens season with wine, desserts and music by the lake

Entertainment, Theatre & Culture will hold its annual free Kick-Off Event 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at Lake Clementia.

There will be wine and dessert pairings at the lake’s covered gazebo area.  The food and drink will be provided by noted area wineries, restaurants and bakery chefs.

Music will be provided by Robert Monteleone’s Symposium Jazz Band.  There will be raffle prizes, and tickets to 2008 concerts will be available.

The season opens with Joel Mason’s tribute to Elton John on June 7.

Every year the Optimist and Kiwanis Clubs and the Cosumnes River Elementary School PTA get together to put on one of the community's major fundraisers benefiting the school, community events and local youth programs.  This year the OKC Corral fundraiser needs the community's help to meet its goal of enhancing the quality of education and providing fun, wholesome activities for youth of all ages. RMA hockey bus trip Feb. 16

The Rancho Murieta Association Recreation Committee is sponsoring a bus trip to the Stockton Arena Saturday, Feb. 16, to see the Stockton Thunders hockey team take on the Alaska Acers. The bus leaves from the North Gazebo at 5:45 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. game. The cost is $25 per person. Contact RMA at 354-3500 for information and reservations.
