We are now focused on the recovery process. After 8 hours, water service returns for 700 North homes

Water service was restored late Wednesday for nearly 700 North households that were without it for eight hours due to a broken water main. Officials cautioned that tap water in the affected homes shouldn't be consumed for at least 48 hours due to the outage.

RMA and CSD directors trade criticisms at RMA session

The Rancho Murieta Association board criticized Security services provided to the community and had a 10-minute exchange with a Community Services District director who said the RMA has improperly taken $88,000 from the community's parks funds.

Andrew Prouty, Stockton fire captain, dies at 47

A delegation of firefighters led by Stockton Fire Chief Ron Hittle came to the Prouty home in Rancho Murieta Monday to pay tribute to one of their own.

During his 15-year career with the Stockton Fire Department, Capt. Andrew Prouty pursued every opportunity for training and joined every kind of team, from rapid response to deep water rescue, Hittle told the family. He also used another set of skills to become the "go-to guy" for writing grants and developing proposals.

Planning group to consider church and irrigation plans

Two projects of interest to Murietans come before a citizens' planning group Jan. 23. The Cosumnes River Community Planning Advisory Council will consider plans to construct facilities for the Rancho Murieta Community Church and a proposal for an irrigation project that would use reclaimed wastewater supplied by the Community Services District to water pasture land.

Blood drive coming Jan. 28

The first blood drive of the year takes place Monday, Jan. 28, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Cantova Way from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.
