Summerfest carnival Aug. 24-25

The annual Summerfest Carnival, a fundraiser staged by community volunteers, takes place Aug. 24 and 25 at Stonehouse Park.

Bat and astronomy night Aug. 11

The Sacramento Valley Conservancy offers a unique opportunity to observe bats and then view the stars Saturday, Aug. 11, starting at 7 p.m. at Deer Creek Hills, the oak woodland preserve that adjoins Rancho Murieta on the north.
