Burglary & Grand Theft Auto – RM North

Dear Neighbors: The purpose of this post is to advise you that a home burglary occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 6 in Rancho Murieta North. The residents were not home. This information was relayed to me by the designated house sitter who checked on the home today only to discover the residence ransacked and the car missing from the garage. The point of entry appears to be a locked rear door. A Sherriff’s Department vehicle was outside the home this afternoon. I contacted our gate officers and they do not have any information to share with me at this time. I was directed to call the security chief in the morning. I will do so and suggest that any concerned neighbor who feels the community should be kept abreast of such information do the same. I wanted to share the information I have, albeit limited, in the hopes that this awareness can somehow help you to avoid being a victim as well. I do not want to give the specific location out of respect for the victims’ privacy but I feel the need to stress that if it can happen on this quiet street, it can happen to any one of us. The suspect was apprehended driving the stolen car with some items that were taken.  He is part of a small group of Meth heads that are either living here or getting access to our community.  They are well known by RM security and the Sacramento Sheriff Department. The suspect had a outstanding warrant from a previous buglery in Rancho.

The justice system is letting us down due to a reduction of resources for public safety and incarceration.  Our politicians have determined other more important programs need our tax dollars.

So we as neighbors need to be vigilant in protecting each other.  If you see, hear something unusual let RM security know.  Maybe like someone with a crowbar in the early morning trying to hack through a deadbolt locked fire door?

These people don't care about anything but getting their hands on something of value to feed their addiction.   A few suggestions, don't post on Facebook that your on vacation somewhere out of town wait until you get back.  Let you neighbors know if you are leaving for a while so they can watch out for you.  If possible have someone stop by your house in you absence.

Have a good day

Warren J. Lutey
